Fans of jangly guitar pop will do well to give this 2020 record by Los Angeles band Smokescreens a listen. You may just get reminded of a certain college rock band from Athens, Georgia. Definitely check out the album opener and closer, ‘Fork in the Road’ and ‘I Love Only You,’ respectively. Beyond that, ‘Nighttime Skies’ will give you an acoustic, Velvet Underground vibe whereas the remaining tracks jingle and jangle a la R.E.M.
