125. ALWAYS SOMETHING by UV-TV

Another Friday brings another new record release and another new genre…jangle-punk. This Queens, New York trio honed their chops in Gainesville, Florida before relocating to NY where this 2021 album was recorded. Clocking in at just under 30 minutes and nine tracks, there should be no filler here. The first two singles, ‘Distant Lullaby’ and ‘Back to Nowhere’ are absolute bangers while the title track (let out of the stable just prior to the full record release) slows things down to a slow but pulsating rhythm. If you’re a fan of jangly pop (think early R.E.M.) and melodic punk (Green Day) you must give this record a spin. Also, the fact that lead singer Rose Vastola reminds me a lot of Liz Phair is a plus in my book.
