Ever heard of ‘ambient pop?’ Neither had I until I came across this band earlier this year. I guess if you’re familiar with groups like Mazzy Star or the Cocteau Twins, then you can extrapolate to what ambient pop should sound like. There are no startling or jarring moments in this album - it’s all slow grooves, twinkling guitars and an almost effortless, androgynous vocal floating above it all. This works to great effect throughout the album, but especially in the first three songs, so give those a try before deciding to continue or move on.
