260. UNDERACHIEVERS PLEASE TRY HARDER by Camera Obscura

I've been meaning to write about this Scottish indie pop band's 2003 record but just hadn't gotten around to it. However, I recently learned that they will be releasing a new album this coming May, so I thought now is as good a time as any to finally recommend you give this 20 year old disc a spin.

Trying to remember what first caught my ear, I think it was the track, 'A Sisters Social Agony.' When you first hear this song, if you didn't know any better, you would think it was a standard slow song played at 1950's era sock hops in the US. Quickly put it on while you're reading this and you'll know exactly what I mean.

This band has both female and male vocalists but I, as usual, seem to gravitate towards the former. With that in mind, continue on with 'Suspended From Class' and 'Number One Son.' Finish off with 'Lunar Sea' and its mellow and relaxing guitar vibes.
