296. DEDICATION by Mirah
This 2026 record is the seventh by American indie artist Mirah whose musical career has spanned more than a quarter century though this is the first time I had heard of her. This album took many years to make having been thrown off course by the pandemic, the death of a parent, the birth of a child and, generally, life. I came across this record only a few days ago and have been listening to it on and off since.
What resonates with me is the slide guitar on 'After the Rain' (I'm a sucker for slide), the playfulness of 'Stumbling' and the somberness of 'New Jersey Turnpike' which is about the death of her father which I can, understandably, find a connection to. Once you listen to that track, try and get that piano motif out of your head (not that you would want to, it's beautiful...).
