For a short time during late 1992 and early 1993, Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan (previously discussed here) and producer Butch Vig (who had a hand in Nirvana's Nevermind) created a wall of sound in the form of this 1993 record rivaling that of renowned producer Phil Spector's work in the 1960's. I know I've said it several times before but I have to say it again here - while you'll definitely appreciate what I'm talking about with a casual spin of this album, that appreciation will skyrocket the minute you put on a pair of headphones and give this a critical listen. It can't be overstated how this record along with a couple others were the seminal alternative rock / grunge albums of the 1990's.

Since anyone familiar with the album will have heard the hit singles ad nauseum since the 90's, I'd like to suggest you give the following tracks consideration instead:  'Rocket' and 'Hummer' are kind of mid-tempo rockers; then change it up and slow it down a bit with 'Mayonaise' before finally rocking it out 'til your fingers bleed and your eardrums pop with 'Geek U.S.A.' and the almost 9 minute sonic assault that is 'Silverfuck.'
