This 2023 sophomore release from Manchester, UK band The Lathums epitomizes what one would consider indie rock with some jingle jangle guitars thrown in for good measure. I haven't yet had a chance to listen to their debut record, though after listening to this one on and off over the past couple of weeks, I definitely have that one queued up on my virtual turntable.
Start out with the upbeat vibe on 'Sad Face Baby' - it has an infectious bass line that will get you humming along in no time. Follow that with the Peter Buck-esque guitars of 'Rise and Fall.' 'I Know Pt 1' will bring you back to 1950's doo-wop and high school proms. Finally end with 'Lucky Bean' which will probably remind you of famed 1980's Hull, UK band The Housemartins.
