Courtney Barnett is an Australian singer and guitarist known for her witty, deadpan lyrics, playing left-handed and singing with her native accent. When I first heard of her and heard her, I was immediately captured by her quirky (yet tuneful) guitar playing and, again, her smart lyrics and how she delivered them. In fact I'm surprised that I haven't covered this 2015 record earlier as I used to listen to this over and over again back then, I liked it that much. In preparation for this post, I re-listened to the album which only reinforced my original thoughts on how good it is. But don't take my word for it, it was #6 on Rolling Stone Magazine's Best Albums of 2015.

Start out with the rocker 'Nobody Really Cares If You Don't Go To The Party' and then follow with 'An Illustration of Loneliness (Sleepless in New York),' the lovely 'Depreston' and then end with 'Small Poppies,' a great live version of which is below.
